Residence Halls Fire Codes
In the interest of residence hall safety, the Federal Emergency Management Association has requested that the following items be banned from use in residence halls:
- Halogen lamps that direct lighting toward the ceiling
- Candles, incense or any other items with an open flame
- Hot plates
- Lighters and matches
- Cigarettes
George Foreman grills, including any look-alikes, may be used and stored only in the kitchen facilities of the dorm.
There is a $100 fine for failure to adhere to fire safety rules. Tampering with fire safety equipment is strictly prohibited and will result in a monetary fine of $100 and/or prosecution.
