EC To Kick Off Semester With Alpha Weekend!

Each fall, the Emmanuel community comes together for a weekend of worship and fellowship called Alpha Weekend! This year we’ll be joined by two outstanding speakers, Pastor Manny Arango and Pastor Beth Stephens Johnson who are ready to bring a good word and help kick the semester off the right way!

Services will be held on Friday, August 13 (11a.m. & 7p.m.) and Saturday, August 14 at 7p.m. All services will be held in the Swails Center.

Manny Arango –

Manny is a Bible nerd, a storyteller, a troublemaker, an overcomer, and a revivalist. Passionate about fighting for people who have lost their voice, Manny strives to inspire those who have lost hope or have settled for mediocre. Based in Durham, NC but born in Boston, MA, He is now a teaching pastor at World Overcomers Christian Church where he was the youth pastor from 2014-2019. He is also a full time itinerant preacher as of January 2020. Manny graduated from SouthEastern University in Dec 2019 with a Masters and is continuing his education at Northern Seminary for a Doctorate in New Testament studies. He deeply values Bible literacy and recently co-founded SpeakEasy + ARMA, both tools that reflect his heart to equip and champion God’s people.

Beth Stephens Johnson

Beth was born and raised with roots running deep in Pentecost. Both grandfathers and one grandmother preached the gospel, blazing the trailfor their families. Beth accepted the call to preach at the age of 20 andwithin weeks, preached her first sermon. She has now shared the gospel for over 25 years all over the United States and abroad. Beth has always strived to follow and accept the Lord’s direction in her life, so she was delighted that He put a very special man in her life. On June 29, 2013, she became the wife of Curt Johnson. They are very excited about the plans God has for them as they work together in His Kingdom! Since the beginning of their marriage and their work together for God, God has been stirring their hearts to simply preach the Gospel and pray for healing for the sick. Whenever He sent His disciples out, “He sent them to preach the Kingdom of God, and to heal the sick” Luke 9:1. Already, signs and wonders are confirming the Word of the Lord! As she and Curt go forward, there is great anticipation and expectation for what God is going to do in this new season!
