January 19, 2022: Emmanuel University personnel are closely monitoring the winter storm potential for Friday. Keep checking this page to see if there will be any impact on Friday’s schedule.
Due to a high percentage of resident students, classes are normally in session regardless of the weather. However, if weather is so severe that faculty, staff, and students (commuting and resident) may encounter hazardous driving or other miscellaneous weather-related conditions that will impact one’s safety, classes may be called off or delayed. In addition, other facilities on campus may be closed or opened after some delay (for example, the athletic center) with the exception of dining services.
The responsibility for making a final decision on closing campus operations (classes,
facilities, etc.) or delaying their opening due to severe weather will rest with the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) working in consultation with the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (the latter if available; otherwise the VPAA will consult with the Vice President for Student Development). If any such closings or delays occur, notifications must be sent prior to 6:30 a.m. to all faculty, staff, and students.
A message will be placed on the University’s switchboard at 1-800-860-8800, as well as the University’s homepage. Finally, a message will be sent to all faculty, staff, and students using the College Alert system. Finally, if the school district in which the employee lives cancels school because of inclement weather, and the college has made the decision to open, that employee is not required to report to work. For staff only, the employee may choose to use vacation leave or sick leave, provided it is still available, at his/her option. One may choose to come to work if he/she feels comfortable driving under the circumstances. The final option is to take the day off without pay.
