Owen Thomason – Diversified Agriculture Program Chair
Owen Thomason has been teaching Agriculture for over 36 years to secondary, post-secondary and adult students. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Education in 1985 and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education in 1989 from the University of Georgia. Owen received his Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership and Administration from Clemson University in 1998. He has been named the National AgriScience Teacher of the Year, National Young Farmer Advisor of the Year and Charles Bradshaw Citizen of the Year. Owen is married to Dr. Gina Bennett Thomason who teaches for Franklin County Board of Education and Liberty University. They have three children; Malone, Addie and Chloe who all attended Emmanuel University as part of the Move On When Ready program. They also have a wonderful son-in law, Bryan Tucker as part of their family and Willa Jane Tucker, the first grandchild!
So, we numerous as we are, are one body in Christ and individually we are parts one of another (Romans 12:5). None of us are called to do all the work that needs to be done, but we can each enjoy the assignments that we are given by the Lord. Enjoying the assignments that the Lord as given me is what I aim for in my life. Since the age of twelve, when I gave my life totally to God, I have strived to mature in the knowledge of God. My life makes its boast in the Lord (Psalms 34:2). It is not about what I can accomplish, but what the Lord chooses to accomplish through me. The Lord has called me to teach and I will perform the assignment to the best of my ability.
Wayne Randall – Professor of Agricultural Education
Wayne Randall has been working in education for the last 34 years. 17 years as a high school Agricultural Education Teacher and FFA Advisor, 15 years as a K-12 school and district level administrator and 3 years teaching agriculture at the college level. Wayne received his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Georgia, his masters degree from Clemson University, and his specialist in school leadership from the University of Alabama.
Adjunct Faculty
Josh Daniel – Adjunct Faculty- Agricultural Education
Josh Daniel is entering his 9th year of teaching Agricultural Education.
He grew up in Oconee County, where his mother worked as a middle school math teacher and his father managed the UGA Swine Farm. He was involved in both 4-H and FFA during his middle and high school years serving as an Area and State FFA officer for Georgia. He has taught Agricultural Mechanics his entire career, and only Ag Mech for the last 5 years at Madison County High School. In past year, he has served as an adjunct for Athens Technical College, teaching a Dual Enrollment Welding Class for MCHS students to receive a Technical College Certificate (TCC) in both Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding.
He celebrated his 7th anniversary this past July with my wife, Delaney, and we are excited to be expecting a little girl, Sawyer, in early October this year. He works with the Youth Ministry at Southside Church at the Banks Crossing Campus. His passion is in creating and fixing anything mechanical, including building his own boat and restoring a 1984 Ford Bronco. He is a passionate bow, dove, and duck hunter. You can usually find him working in the shop at school, hunting, or enjoying a quality novel.
Josh received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from UGA in 2014 and his MEd. in Workforce Education (Adult & Career Ed) from Valdosta State University in 2020.
